Teresian Sisters is a local congregation founded by Missionaries of Africa late Bishop Mathurine Guillime from France. The congregation is situated in two countries Malawi and Zambia. It was started in 1929 at Bembeke Parish where was the Cathedral . He started the congregation with the initiative of buying slaves from Arabs to rescue them. Following the steps of Jesus a liberator, he also had the passion to liberate people from slavery they were experiencing during that time . He was very much touched with the way the Arabs were treating the people especially Women and Children so he started buying them to set them free. After having a large number of these slaves, he thought of starting a congregation of Sisters to take care of them in both spiritual and physical life. They chose our patron saint to be St Teresa of the Child Jesus, following her little way.
